How long does a 50 lb bucket of chlorine tabs last?
A 50 lb bucket holds about 100 three-inch tablets. In a Phoenix summer, a typical 15,000-gallon pool goes through 3 to 4 tabs a week, and fewer in winter. For most pools that is several months of chlorine from one bucket. Text us your pool size and we will give you a closer number.
When should I shock my pool?
Shock after a pool party, a monsoon or dust storm, a run of 110-degree days, or any time the water looks cloudy or starts to turn green. Add it at dusk with the pump running so the sun doesn't burn it off, and wait until chlorine drops back to normal before swimming.
How much salt does my saltwater pool need?
Most salt systems run best between about 2,700 and 3,400 ppm. Check the label on your salt cell for its exact range. How many bags you need depends on your pool size and your current reading, so tell us both, or ask us to test it, and we will tell you how many bags to add.
Do I need chlorine tabs if I have a salt pool?
Usually not. Your salt cell makes chlorine from the salt in the water. Many salt pool owners keep a bag of shock on hand for storms and heavy use, and some add tabs for a short time if the cell is being repaired or replaced.
How should I store pool chemicals in Arizona heat?
Keep them in a shaded, dry, ventilated spot, off the ground and out of reach of kids and pets. Keep lids closed tight. Our tabs and shock are both trichlor, so they can share a shelf, but never mix or store trichlor with any other chlorine, such as cal-hypo shock or liquid chlorine, because they can react and start a fire. Always add chemicals to water, never water to chemicals.
